Letter to Parents
My goal as a teacher is to ensure that all students learn and feel welcome, accepted, and respected within the classroom. Having a strong sense of classroom community allows students to open their minds to learning new strategies and to feel safe within the realms of learning. This year your child will learn many new things. Each student in our classroom will play a very important part in building our classroom community. We will establish rules and routines which will help each student feel that he or she is at home in our classroom. It is my number one goal that students feel safe and accepted in our room. If students are comfortable in their surroundings, they can better learn and feel safe to take risks in their learning. By establishing this type of environment, we will create a positive, comfortable, safe and productive learning environment in which students feel free to share their ideas, stretch their thoughts, and grow as individuals.
You, as parents, know your child's needs better than anyone. Your thoughts and concerns are very important to me and I look forward to hearing from you. If at any time you have any thoughts, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact me. The best times to reach me by telephone are between 8:00 and 8:55 a.m. or 3:15 and 4:00 p.m. I can also be reached at any time by leaving a voicemail or sending an email. You can also send a note in your child's planner, folder or communication log. I will always try my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
