Local Scholarships
The list below are scholarships that are being offered to Chester Academy students this year. As the scholarships come into the Guidance Department, we will be updating this scholarship page.

SUNY Orange Scholarships - Applications will be accepted between 1/14/19 and 4/1/19

The SUNY Orange Foundation has over 200 need-based and academic-based scholarship opportunities available for entering, returning and graduating students. Apply for a scholarship here:

Orange County Parochial School Scholarships - Deadline 2/19/19

Each year, the Orange County Parochial School League awards 3 scholarships.  One each for Boy's basketball, Girl's basketball and or cheerleading. Please stop by the Guidance Office for an application.

Jackie Robinson Foundation - Deadline 1/31/19

The Jackie Robinson Foundation and The Dream.US partner with the College Board to increase scholarship opportunities for eligible students who've taken the PSAT. Visit for more information.

Al Romm Interdisciplinary Journalism Scholarship - Deadline 4/15/19

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who speaks one other language besides English, has been involved with the high school newspaper or yearbook and is pursuing a career in journalism. Visit to apply.

E.J. Szulwach Environmental Scholarship - Deadline 4/15/19

Students must attend an Orange County School (preference will be given to a graduate from Chester Union Free School District). The senior must plan to continue their education in the areas of environmental studies, agriculture related majors/degrees, land protection, forestry, horticulture, fishery sciences, hydrology, water resource science, or water usage.  Visit to apply.

Orange County Youth Football and Cheerleading Scholarship - Deadline 4/15/19

This scholarship is open to graduating seniors who have participated in the Orange County Youth Football and Cheerleading program for multiple years and is planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college upon graduation.  Visit to apply.

Ian Bennett/Situation Cares Memorial Scholarship - Deadline TBD

This scholarship is open to seniors who attend Orange County Schools. The Candidates must submit three examples of their art, which may be in the form of design, music and/or performing arts and write an essay.  All submissions must be submitted electronically to: Creativity is urged.

Bill Perry Memorial Fund for Music Education & Appreciation - Deadline 4/15/19

This scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Orange County High Schools with preference given to graduates of Chester Academy and Warwick Valley High Schools who plan to pursue music education. Visit Music for Humanity to apply.

Joyce A. Betros Scholarship - Deadline 4/1/19

The TEG Federal Credit Union will award three $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement and community service through out their high school careers.  Please stop by the Guidance Office for an application.

Vietnam Veterans of America Scholarship - Deadline 4/20/19

The Vietnam Veterans of America Orange County Chapter 140 offers a scholarship to a child or grandchild of Vietnam era Veteran.  This senior must be planning to attend college.  Please stop by the Guidance Office for an application.

Rudolph Vallet Memorial Science and Education Scholarship - Deadline 4/15/19

The Rudolph Vallet Memorial Scholarship is awarded to one graduating senior who achieved a minimum 3.3 GPA for all science and/or education related courses and will be pursuing a degree in either Science, a science related field, or Education.  Please stop by the Guidance Office for an application.

Tony Schembri Memorial Annual Scholarship - Deadline 4/1/19

The Rolling Thunder Inc. is a non-profit veteran-support organization. They are offering a $500.00 scholarship to a graduating senior. Please stop by the Guidance Office for an application.

SAANYS 2019 Retiree Student Scholarship Application - Deadline 4/1/19

This scholarship is open to any high school senior graduating in June 2019. Applicants must be sponsored be a current SAANYS active or associate retiree member in good standing.  Students must have demonstrated good school and community citizenship, are planning to go on to higher education, and who otherwise satisfy criteria by the SAANYS Retiree Scholarship committee. Please stop by the Guidance Office for an application. 

Bambino/Goncalves/Jensen Scholarship - Deadline 4/8/19

The Bambino Scholarship is available to a Special Education student who is college bound. The Goncalves Scholarship is available to a student who demonstrates an involvement and work for a cause or organization that promotes social justice, equal opportunity, relief of human suffering or other aspiration generally understood to be within the meaning of humanitarian activity throughout their high school career. The Jensen Scholarship is available to a student who has excelled in design in his or her high school career.  The scholarship aplications can be downloaded from the website, or stop by the Guidance Office.

Ned Carter Memorial Scholarship - Deadline 2/22/19

The Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York is pleased to announce the Ned Carter Memorial Scholarship Award for High School Seniors.  This scholarship will be presented to high school seniors who will be pursuing a career in a community service and helping other. This scholarship will be presented to high school seniors who will be pursuing a career in a community service related discipline. Please stop by the Guidance Office for an application.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) Scholarship Application Opens 1/1/19

The HSF Scholarship is designed to aid students of Hispanic heritage in their pursuit of a college degree. Scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduate students (all years), graduate students, and community college students transferring to four-year universities. Awards are merit-based, and final amounts range from $500 to $5,000, based on demonstrated financial need.
Phase 1 of the application, which is a short questionnaire, opens on January 1, 2019 and closes on February 5. After review of all Phase 1 submissions, the top qualified applicants will be invited to complete the application Phase 2.

Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union Scholarship - Deadline  1/4/2019

In an effort to help further the education of our local high-school seniors, Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union is participating in the New York Credit Union Association’s statewide college scholarship program.High-school seniors who are members of our credit union and other participating credit unions across the state are invited to apply for scholarships to be used at two- or four-year accredited educational institutions. 

To be eligible, students must be college-bound high-school seniors at the time of application, attending college for the first time in the fall of 2019. They must also be members of a participating credit union.  Applicants will be judged based upon their academic achievements, extracurricular and community activities and the quality of their written essay.

NYWEA Scolarships - Deadline 2/28/19

The New York Water Environment Association is a non-profit educational organization of water professionals promoting sustainable clean water quality management through science, education and training.  This organization offers scholarships to seniors majoring in environmental issues.  Please go to for more information and the application.

WISE - Women In Science and Engineering Scholarship Programs are available at most Colleges for females pursuing degrees in these fields. Since each college has their own specific program, we have provided 2 examples for your review:
