Curriculum and Instruction
At CUFSD, our schools are places where students thrive in a safe, supportive environment that promotes each child’s academic, personal, social, emotional, and physical development. Our curriculum and instruction align with our district’s vision to create global leaders by providing learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Students engage in authentic, real-world learning through partnerships with the community, local businesses, and higher education.
We are committed to ensuring all students excel in core academic subjects, meeting and exceeding the rigorous New York State Learning Standards in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Our instruction is designed to be inclusive, engaging, and meaningful, using creative and varied teaching approaches that connect different areas of learning, integrate technology, and provide diverse experiences.
For students who encounter academic challenges, we offer additional support and interventions to ensure they succeed.
At both Chester Elementary School and Chester Academy, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where all students are valued and have the opportunity to form positive relationships with caring, competent adults. We emphasize character development and social skills, preparing students to be responsible, empathetic individuals.
Beyond core academics, our students benefit from learning in areas such as world languages, music, health, physical education, technology, STEM, and home and careers. We continually seek to enhance our students’ educational experiences with programs like career education, skill-building activities, sports, clubs, and special events that make school both enriching and enjoyable.
We believe in a strong partnership with parents, working together to ensure they remain integral to their child’s educational journey and fostering connections between students and their community.
