Meet the Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Communication
With twenty-eight years of dedicated experience in education, Dayanara Garcia is a passionate advocate for teaching, faculty support, and community engagement. She began her career as an English teacher with the NYC Department of Education, where she spent two decades working with inner-city youth. During that time, she also served as a Literacy Coach, Mentor, Model Teacher, and Staff Developer, empowering both students and fellow educators.
For the past seven years, Mrs. Garcia has worked within the Chester Union Free School District, proudly serving the community in which she lives. As the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Communication, she collaborates with faculty, staff, families, and students to promote academic achievement and equitable access to resources for all.
A former English as a Second Language (ESL) student herself, Mrs. Garcia is a strong advocate for multilingual education and understands the importance of supporting diverse learning needs. She leads the district's Family Instructional Academy, providing valuable workshops that help families navigate and support their children’s education.
In her free time, Mrs. Garcia enjoys writing poetry, a creative outlet that complements her lifelong love of language and learning.
