WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL CUFSD FAMILIES!

We begin the 2025–2026 school year with Purpose, Passion, and Pride: purpose in keeping student success at the center of every decision, passion in creating supportive and engaging learning environments, and pride in our students’ achievements made possible through the dedication of our staff and the partnership of our families and community.

Guided by our community-supported, budget, we are Investing in Excellence through initiatives that align with our mission, vision, and District Goals and will have a lasting impact this year and beyond.

Highlights include:

  • Expanded Safety and Security.  As part of the district’s Safety Capital Project, major improvements to emergency response systems and building infrastructure were completed this summer, with additional advancements continuing into the school year.

  • Launching Synergy, our new Student Information System. Synergy replaces SchoolTool and will provide families with improved access to student information and more efficient, paperless processes, reducing duplication of forms. It will also give staff better tools for monitoring progress, attendance, and student support. More than 400 families have already registered, and professional development for staff is underway to ensure a smooth transition. Information on how to access Synergy will continue to be shared through ParentSquare. Please contact your child’s school for support, our team is here to help!

  • Expanding ParentSquare. Now in its second year, ParentSquare will grow to include teacher-to-parent messaging, making communication more accessible and creating stronger opportunities for family engagement. This expansion will roll out gradually during the school year to ensure teachers and staff are well-prepared to support families effectively.

  • Strengthening Instruction. Instructional programs and assessments continue to expand, with literacy embedded across all subject areas. We will be piloting science programs at the elementary and middle levels that are aligned to the NY Next Generation Learning Standards. Across all areas, teacher input, data-driven practices, and targeted professional development throughout the year remain central to this work.

  • Integrating Technology and Innovation. Robotics, multimedia, and engineering applications expand hands-on learning experiences that encourage problem-solving and creativity. Magic School AI, selected based on teacher feedback, is being introduced as a tool to enhance instruction while also preparing students to engage with artificial intelligence responsibly and ethically. As AI becomes an integral part of college, careers, and daily life, our future-focused approach ensures students gain the knowledge and support essential for responsible use and long-term success.

  • Parent and Community Engagement. The CUFSD Parent Advisory Panel, Athletics Panel, and Family Instructional Academy will continue to engage families in district initiatives and support continuous improvement through strong home–school partnerships.

  • New welcome signs at Chester Academy and CES, featuring modern, TV-style displays that will replace scrolling signage and provide a dynamic way to share updates with students, staff, and families. These will be installed during the fall, after the start of the school year.

  • Partnerships with Parent Organizations. We remain grateful for the PTA, PTSA, and SEPTSA, who play a vital role in supporting a positive and inclusive school community.

Each of these initiatives directly supports our District Goals and reflects our commitment to continuous improvement. Please see the link below for an overview of this year’s objectives and key highlights:

 2025-2026 Objectives:  Key Highlights

A more comprehensive review will be presented at the September 10 Board of Education meeting, with the full presentation to be shared on our district website following the meeting.

Bell-to-Bell Personal Device Policy

In compliance with NYS requirements, the 2025–2026 bell-to-bell cell phone and personal device ban builds on practices already in place last year. This year, the policy extends to all times during the school day, including hallway transitions, lunch, and other non-instructional periods, to fully meet the state mandate. For more information, please visit our website: Bell-to-Bell Policy.

Interscholastic Athletics Facility: Preliminary Overview

Following a two-year feasibility study, we are taking the next step in planning for a proposed Interscholastic Athletics Facility. This modern, multi-purpose space will provide opportunities for students through athletics, wellness programs, physical education, and school events. It will also serve as a safe, central location for families to gather and connect, reflecting the pride we share in Chester and our commitment to empowering every student to reach their highest potential. More information will be shared in the months ahead, with opportunities for community input and engagement.

Interscholastic Athletics Facility Preliminary Overview

As a student-centered, future-focused, team-driven district, we will build on our strengths and embrace new opportunities. The success of our students reflects the dedication of those who teach and support them, the partnership we share with families, and the collective pride of our Chester community.

Thank you for your trust and partnership as we begin a year of growth, connection, and achievement for all.

Looking forward to 2025–2026!
