Tree Felling

Starting Thursday, February 5, all trees four-inch caliper and larger will be felled and left in place until the site design is approved by the New York State Education Department and other required regulatory authorities. Trees may not be removed until those approvals are in place. The work follows the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation tree-felling window, which requires felling before March 31 to meet environmental protections. Regulatory approvals are expected later this fall (August/September).  

Important Dates

  • Wednesday, December 17:  RFP submission to newspapers

  • Monday, December 22: Newspaper posting

  • Friday, January 9, 2026: Mandatory bid walk (site walk)

  • Friday, January 23 – 3:00 PM: Bids due

  • Friday, January 23 – 3:00 PM: Bid opening

  • Friday, January 30: Bid award following vetting period

  • Wednesday, February 4: Tree Felling Bid awarded at BOE meeting to Peter Downes & Son Inc.

  • Monday, February 16: Tree felling to begin
