Proposed Interscholastic Athletic Facility

Chester Union Free School District is taking an exciting step forward in building Chester’s future by placing a proposition before voters on December 16 for a proposed Interscholastic Athletic Facility Capital Project that will elevate opportunities for students and the entire community.

Following an extensive two-year feasibility study and interscholastic audit, the District has developed a plan to create a safe, modern facility for athletics, wellness, and community events right on campus between Chester Academy and Chester Elementary School.

The proposed facility includes a multi-sport athletics field and eight-lane track, grandstand seating with press box, and a field house designed for both home and visiting teams—creating a welcoming space for athletes, families, and fans with public restrooms and a community-friendly concession area.

Designed with both safety and community access in mind, the project includes a single main entryway and perimeter fencing to provide a secure yet welcoming environment for students, athletes, and residents.

Importantly, the project qualifies for 65.6% in New York State Building Aid on eligible expenses, which will offset a portion of the total cost and reduce the local taxpayer share.

The community is invited to learn more before the vote. A formal presentation will be held at the Board of Education meeting on November 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chester Academy Auditorium. In addition, community forums will be offered on November 12 and November 19 to give residents an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback.
