I have provided some updates below:

Middle School ELA Testing:

NYS ELA testing for students in grades 6-8 starts next week.  Please see the schedule below.  Although we always encourage your participation in this testing, for scheduling, we ask you to inform us as soon as possible if you plan to “opt out” of the state testing.

Reminders:

This exam will not be administered remotely.

Students that have “opted out” of the exam will remain in the classroom with students that are taking the exam and are expected to remain quiet while others are working.  Their Chromebook will be collected at the beginning of the exam, as electronic devices are not permitted for use during the test. Please provide them with something to read while others are testing.

Students will only be taking part A of the state exam this year.  This should take them anywhere between 80 minutes (many will finish sooner).  If a student is absent on their scheduled testing day, and has not opted out of the exam, they will have the exam administered on the makeup day.

This year’s state ELA and Math exams are being administered to the students on their Chromebook at Chester Academy. Please remind your child to have their Chromebook fully charged the night before the exam and open up any tech tickets immediately if you are experiencing any technical issues with your computer.

Chester Academy Prom:

Please be sure to check the Senior Class Google Classroom page or email Mr. Higgins if you have questions regarding the Prom, scheduled for May 20th at the Hotel Thayer from 7-9:30pm. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale next week!

End of the 3rd Quarter:

April 23rd is the end of the 3rd quarter!  Make sure you are getting in all your work.  We are in the home stretch! Let do this Hambos!

Change of Instructional Model:

Wednesday, April 21st, is the deadline to change your child’s instructional model.  If you are looking to have your child return to in-person instruction, please inform us prior to this day.  This will be the last opportunity this school year to switch back to in-person instruction.  Once we have confirmed all changes and have an accurate in-person student count, we will evaluate our ability to possibly consider more in-person instruction while following the state guidance that would apply to our school regarding 6 ft social distancing.
