New Principal for Chester Elementary School

June 17, 2021

To the Chester UFSD Community:

I am writing to let you know that at last night’s meeting of the Chester Board of Education Mary Kate Boesch was named as the new principal of Chester Elementary School effective July 1, 2021.

As many of you already know, Ms. O’Hara was named Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for our school district last month. Ms. O’Hara will be working closely with Ms. Boesch this summer during the transition of leadership at Chester Elementary School.

Ms. Boesch is currently an assistant principal at Sullivan County BOCES. Prior to her employment at BOCES Ms. Boesch was an elementary school assistant principal and teacher in New York City and on Long Island.  Ms. Boesch has a strong background in evaluating student learning needs and developing programs targeted to specific student needs. In addition, Ms. Boesch has significant experience in the area of social emotional learning and in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Ms. Boesch was the unanimous choice of the Chester Elementary School Principal Selection Committee and we are confident that she will be an excellent leader for Chester Elementary School.

Ms. Boesch looks forward to meeting with Chester Elementary School students and families this summer.  Once Ms. Boesch has joined us we will be sharing more information about opportunities to meet with her to share information, thoughts and expectations for the future of Chester Elementary School

Sincerely,

Denis M. Petrilak

Superintendent of Schools
