Chester Academy launched its first Advisory Period on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, and shared its successes at the Board of Education meeting later that evening. 

The Advisory Period is for all students in grades 6-12 and will take place twice a month. Each meeting will either focus on social and emotional learning or study skills. Each group will be made up of about 10 students and will stay the same throughout the student’s entire academic career. 

“In these small groups, we want students to find a comfort zone, have a trusted group, have that social and emotional education, to work on organizational skills, and to really find ways to be successful as students,” said John Flanagan, principal at Chester Academy.  

“The advisory groups create a bridge that brings people together,” said Mr. Flanagan. “Our goal is to see these groups grow together.”
